Communications Lab

In the first week of class we were asked to create a 30 minute film that told a story. Our first project then prompted us to create a webpage around the content of the film. This project introduced os to html, css, and javascript, launching our trip through CommLab
For our second project, and our first official group collaboration, Pedro, Mari, Yuan, and I had to create a soundpiece that once again, told a story and lived on the web. We decided to create a parallel depiction of the day to day of an introvert and an extrovert. We were introduced to sound software such as Audacity and Logic Pro.
Four our third project we were instructed to create a comic of at least six panels that contained some interaction. With Pedro, Brian, and Adham, we created sliders that contrasted the complaints of NYUAD students and to the ones of expat labor workers in the UAE. Here we were exposed to the Adobe Suite for the first time, but this time we only used Illustrator and Photoshop.
In our fourth project we were asked to create a video that lived on a web, and out of three story lines, we chose to create a How-To-Video. With Pedro, Brian, and Adham we decided to create a comical mockumentary where Pedro teaches us how to become the perfect Roomate. For this project, we got introductory courses to DSLR cameras and Adobe Premiere.
For the grand finale, we were asked to create an animation of two minutes that told a story. Roberto, Pablo, and I got our inspiration from our Latino side and decided to create a replica of "Diaros de una motocicleta", where Che Guevare describes his motorcycle trip around South America. Here we were introduced to Adobe After Effects, but at the same time had to apply the software from past projects.
